The earrings!

Nancy, of Spinning Glass Studio, is having an earring give-away this week. She is part of a wonderful group of artists and artisans (read more about this on her website) that gather to support each other’s work, dreams and lives. When I first saw these earrings, they made me smile (still do). I also love the simple, direct way that she is conducting her give-away; just post a comment on her blog and you have a chance to win. How simple and fun!  Below is the link to the contest.

A man’s work is nothing but this slow trek to rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and simple images in whose presence his heart first opened.” Albert Camus

"And now let us welcome the new year, full of things that have never been." Rainer Maria Rilke (a beautiful card that I received yesterday)

I usually don’t post on weekends, but I felt like I had to today. I wanted to start this new year doing something that I loved; connecting with the White Feather Farm community. So many people say that they feel like they know me, even before we’ve met in person, because of this blog, and I love getting to know you through your comments and responses, so I am opening this day up to you, to talk about anything (and everything!) that you would like us to know about your life. Many of you have websites, blogs, and work that you might want to share, but it doesn’t have to be any of this. Feel free to talk about your family, your animals, your dreams and aspirations, your loves, what is important in your life.

Wishing you all a 2012 filled with wonder, love, happiness, health, inner peace, abundance, success, fun, courage, laughter, connection and the fulfillment of your heart’s desires!

RULES FOR COMMENTING TODAY:

1. Take as much room as you need/want.

2. Have fun

3. don’t judge what you write as too long or too short

4. comment if you want to, don’t if you don’t

Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend“. Albert Camus

a little help from our friends!

At the end of my run on Monday, I noticed a woman picking things up, and dropping them back on the beach. The closer I got, I could see that she was picking up large clam shells, pulling them apart, and dropping them again. A sea gull was following close behind her. I said, “Good morning! I was wondering what you were doing.” She was bent over, but smiled at me and said, “I like to give the birds a little help. They have a rough time of it.” and she went back to her work which she was obviously enjoying.

A part of me thought, “Sea gulls seem like the birds that need the least amount of help! and then the thought, “How do I know that the love that this woman is putting into her task, isn’t vitally needed by, not only those birds, but by the entire Universe?!” Can I really say with certainty what is needed; who is playing a large part in helping our world, and who or what action, is a small part, an insignificant part?” I know that her kindness changed my day. It made me smile. It was significant enough to tell Jack about when I got back to our motel… to tell you about now. Our lives matter. Our thoughts and our actions matter….I don’t think that there are degrees of “importance” in our actions when we are living from our hearts.

You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.  ~Albert Camus
