a cute little bag!

I got up later than Jack this morning. He was sitting in the living room drinking coffee as I came down the stairs and the first thing he said was, “You would not believe what happened last night!” I could tell it was going to be a good story so I poured my coffee and sat down to listen.

He said, “About midnight, I heard Esther (one of our six cats) at the front door. I opened it to let her in and guess who was sitting there like she was one of the family? Wonder! “ We had named the feral kitten, that we heard several days ago and have been feeding but unable to get close to, “Wonder”, after the Stevie Wonder song (from yesterday’s blog), “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing”. (we’re not sure if “she” is really a she or a he but we don’t like saying “it” so Wonder is a she for now). This is so unusual.  Esther is the alpha cat. She chases every cat off our property and orders our others (4 males and another female) around the house like she is the queen. The thought that she would even allow another cat to be sitting on our front step with her is amazing.

I get a weekly reading from the Findhorn Foundation* and after listening to Jack’s story about Wonder, I opened their email, and this was how part of it read, “….Those who live by it (the inner voice of knowing) know of the wonder of it, know what happens when it is obeyed, know how doors are flung wide open, know how wonder upon wonder comes about, know the joy and glory it brings with it, know that it works.” * http://www.findhorn.org

I love it when I get affirmations from the universe like this…it makes me remember that I am a part of a something so big, so good, so expansive and so beyond my conscious mind’s ability to figure it out, that I must let go and trust that this river of life is safe to plunge into!

So what does the little bag have to do with the kitten? Besides being about the same size, nothing!  I bought it a while back and have never used it. It was made in Guatemala and has a print on the back that looks like a Guatemalan fabic. It is so cute and such a perfect little summer bag that I thought one of my readers might like it. To enter this contest, post a comment with the word WONDER in it. Feel free to “tell a story” or just post the word. I will choose a random entry in the morning and mail the bag out to the winner.

Today just feels like such an expansive day that I decided to post 2 blogs! I think it is time for another little contest. I was recently given a lot of cool samples of natural products, and have some small soaps (I love this brand of soap) and lip balms (have not tried these) that I would like to share.  To enter this “contest” just post a comment (with the words someplace in it), “I AM……” and fill in the blank with some positive word like, “GREAT, HAPPY, WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED, LUCKY, WISE…” you get the idea! I will randomly choose someone on Saturday morning, and send you off the 2 lip balms and soaps!

new stamps at the post office

I saw these stamps at the post office the other day. I didn’t need stamps, so I wasn’t going to buy them and then I thought, I cannot leave without these…I feel happy when I look at them…., “FOREVER CELEBRATE!” … what better words could I attach to any message going out to the world? There is always something that I can “celebrate”…even quietly: a smile, a good cup of coffee, a cold glass of water…right out of my own faucet, a comfortable chair, our connection here…the list is endless if I really look.

I think it is time for another contest! I had the idea yesterday to offer a skin balm (Mary’s Skin Survival Balm of course) to the winner like I did last time, but to add a fun twist. Once a random winner is chosen by me, that person goes on the blog and picks someone who they would like another sent to. So I will not only mail out the balm to the winner, but will mail another to the person of their choice (who has also entered the contest).

If you would like to play along, here are the rules:

1. Have fun doing it!

2. Go to my website, http://www.marysskinsurvivalbalm.com  and find the answer to the question , “Who is the first person to write a testimonial?” (hint…look on the Testimonials Page…this is not a trick question!)

a. Sister Madonna Buder   b. Tom Getz    c. Luke Metzger

3.Choose the correct answer and then post the letter in a comment on my blog. I will choose one winner on Saturday, April 2nd and then the winner will choose someone after that.

a contest

My skin balm!

This post is a bit different than the others and I felt a bit unsure about proposing it because I did not want you to think that I was plugging my product on my blog. …well, I guess I am…sort of, but I am more interested in getting increased exposure on the web and thought that I could do that by holding a little contest.

I got this idea from a very fun website of Elizabeth Harper’s, http://www.sealedwithlove.com. I met Elizabeth a few years ago and she is very funny and full of fun and started running a weekly give-away on her website which I love entering, even though I haven’t won yet (my sister Jayne did though).

I will ask you a question (answer to be found by looking at my website) and you can post  the answer as A. B. or C.

When did I begin making the balm? (answer is on the History page)

A.. in the late 80′s

B. In the mid 90′s

C. In 1997

my website is: http://www.marysskinsurvivalbalm.com

I’ll randomly choose one winner withthe correct answer, and send you a free gift of the balm that I make:  Mary’s Skin Survival Balm .

Good luck (although I do not believe in luck) and I will choose a winner on March 12th which is, according to my calendar, Plant a Flower Day.

Love and fun,

Mary
