Beautiful beeswax from Lloyd Spear

I purchased a new batch of beeswax the other day for a skin balm that I make. The beekeeper, Lloyd Spear, has devoted his life to beekeeping. He loves his bees, and the honey and wax that they produce, and you can feel it. I pay more for his wax than I would from a big company, and it is worth every cent. I love supporting individuals who are doing what they love. Every person who chooses to follow the calling of their own heart, is uplifting our entire world.

So many people who I talk with have a passion, but don’t dare go for it, because they can’t see how to make a living doing what they love. But love is a powerful energy. It has hidden and magical and wonderful powers. It can be trusted to open doors that we hardly dare dream to be true, they seem so good.

“Love is the greatest power on earth; it conquers all things.” Peace Pilgrim

TIME FOR A CONTEST! One of the things that I love is holding these little contests, and today’s will be for a tin of the skin balm that I make, “Mary’s Skin Survival Balm”.  www.marysskinsurvivalbalm.com

To enter,  just comment about something/someone you love. I will pick a random winner on Monday, January 23rd (the Chinese New Year). It does not matter if you have won before, all are welcome to participate.

The prize!

There was a “bag sale” at the Manchester Thrift Store yesterday. Before the fall, they get rid of all of their summer clothing to make room for warmer, winter things. I feel a little giddy on bag sale days. You purchase a white garbage bag for $5 and then go around the store filling it up. All of my usual discretion goes out the window on these days…it is as if I become obsessed with seeing how much I can cram into that bag. I don’t bother to try anything on, if it looks close to my size, I just stuff it in.

I justify this by saying that if it doesn’t fit, or I don’t  like it, I will simply put it in another bag and re-donate it. Which I do. Thrift store shopping is just plain fun for me and bag sale days make me feel a tiny bit like I have won some lottery.

So, it seems the perfect time for another give-away doesn’t it?! To enter this contest, just comment telling us what fun little thing you like to do for yourself, or for someone else (or if you can’t think of anything, but there is something that you wish you could do, then write that …there are no wrong responses!). I will choose a random winner on Monday the 5th and the prize will be a Mary’s Skin Survival Balm (in a sweet little gold bag that I picked up yesterday at the bag sale!)

Kitty tracks!

My mother and I met for breakfast yesterday. As we were getting ready to leave the restaurant, she said, “These are not all that comfortable (pointing to her shoes) I’m going to look for another pair today.” I looked down at her feet. She was wearing sandals. No socks. Even though it was April 2nd, there was still a dusting of snow on the ground from a little storm we had the night before.

I said, “Mom, aren’t your feet cold?” She laughed and said, “I am just so sick of wearing shoes and winter. I am trying to encourage the spring!” I love this about my mother.

I would not have noticed this, or more correctly, appreciated this, a few years ago…when I was not looking for something to love about her. This funny, quirky little thing would have either been annoying or ignored. Yesterday, as I looked at her feet, I felt delighted…she is going to be 84 this year and she is wearing sandals in 30 degree weather…you’ve got to love that!

There is always something to love about everyone. Sometimes it is hard work to see it, but it makes life a lot more enjoyable when I do!

***Susan L. of Canton Ohio won the first skin balm and she chose Sally B. (also of Canton) to receive the second!*****
